This epub-only collection features two different early serial detectives. 'Indian Detective Stories' (1907) by Newman Wright features Balwant Rao as a former lawyer turned wandering sunyasi, who after solving the theft of a valuable temple jewel begins to help the law as a native detective. 'Drake, the Unconventional Detective' (1916) by George Edgar, features Montagu Drake as a consulting detective with an eye for details and a splendid memory.
